Breastfeeding Workshop

This workshop is designed to fill you in on all essential information on breastfeeding! Instructed by an experienced Lactation Consultant, this workshop is a must for expectant moms and any breastfeeding mother out there!

Topics include:

  • Situations that can effect breastfeeding, making decisions to facilitate feeding
  • Skin to skin
  • Normal behaviours for newborns, including cluster feeding
  • Hand expression
  • How to know if baby is breastfeeding well (latch, positions, frequency, duration, output)
  • Fussy times happen!

Workshop length 1.5 hours. Useable with 5 Workshop Pass ($19.80/workshop), or basic workshop fee ($25).

Spend an evening with Kara Wiebe of HEM Design and get all the information you need to prepare your home for baby and the inspiration you need to start making your dream nursery a reality. Design and decor tips are discussed as well as a review of the most up-to-date safety standards and green options so you can be confident your little one’s nursery is not only beautiful, but safe and comfortable too. You will also receive a package of helpful handouts, such as a nursery budget worksheet and ready-for-baby shopping list.

Pelvic Floor and Prenatal Health Seminar

Learn how to care for your body through the stages of pregnancy, exercise safely, manage aches and pains associated with your changing body, and prepare the pelvic floor for delivery.

A 2 hour CPR and First Aid class for families with children taught by a CPR Instructor/Emergency Room Nurse. You will learn:

  • Navigating internet health advice

Fee: $25 per person. Participants will receive handouts , an emergency fridge magnet, and hands-on practice with CPR dolls and EpiPen trainers.

Bringing Home Baby

Congratulations!! Your family is growing! A new little new family member is arriving into your home soon. This training workshop is designed to help the transition when first bringing baby home to your canine companion. It covers common questions such as licking the baby, sniffing the baby, and how to deal with an attention seeking dog. This training workshop covers:

  • Creating safety first!
  • Reading your dogs body language and understanding when your dog is stressed
  • What to do upon arrival home with your newborn
  • Creating safe boundaries for your dog

…and much more!!

This training workshop is 2 hours with a break in between.

Fee: $25.00 per person plus GST = $26.25 and $10.00 each additional family member (spouses and children) plus GST = $36.75 for two. Not useable with “Workshop Pass”

Labour Support Workshop: Coping and Progression Techniques (1 hour Workshop)

This 1 hour workshop allows expectant mothers to practice labour techniques that will help them progress and cope through the journey of labour and delivery. A great add-on to any Baby Rush Series/Private class! Come by yourself or with a support person who can also benefit from practicing and preparing for the big day!

Fee: $25/person, or useable with a “Workshop Pass”, add-on member of the same household $10.00

Postpartum Recovery

 Learn how to regain strength and endurance of the core and pelvic floor and about postpartum issues including managing episiotomy scars, perineal tears and c-section scars, urinary and fecal incontinence, painful intercourse, and abdominal separation.

  • Hot Topics: Transition from Milk to Solids

Lisa-Marie Back, Registered Dietician

Our registered dietician will guide you through the transition from milk to solid food in this hour-long workshop. Topics include: signs baby is ready to eat solid foods, the order of introduction of solid foods, and texture progression for your baby. Lisa will also demonstrate making your own baby food in class so that you can learn how to make HEALTHY food and good choices for your baby’s first solids.

Based on a beginners understanding of the concept of play and how young children develop social skills, parents will engage in hands-on opportunities to engage their children in play. The workshop will provide a combination of discussion, learning some songs, and a creative way to encourage friendships. Think of it as a primer for your child’s first play date!

Topics will include:

  • Understanding the concept of play: discovering that there are actually styles of play that occur at different stages of a child’s development (i.e. functional play, constructive play – symbolic; dramatic play; and games with rules) – parents will learn what to look for to determine their child’s style of play and how they can engage their child.
  • How young children’s social skills develop: parents will learn about the levels of social development (i.e. solitary play, parallel play and group play) and consider their expectations for their child in a social situation.
  • Hands on opportunities and songs: a few toys and pieces of equipment will be discussed to demonstrate how children play with them based on the styles listed above and how parents can consider play value in toy purchases. Songs – parents will be engaged in a few finger-plays and easy songs to sing with their child.

AlphaBoost: starting your child on the pathway to reading
