Hillery completed her bachelor of nursing from The University of Manitoba in 2006 when she specialized in the area of low and high risk obstetrics. Immediately following graduation, she began her career at The St. Boniface General Hospital where she works in the maternal-child field. She is trained to assist women with low and high-risk pregnancies, labours and deliveries, postpartum low and high-risk care, and newborn care. Hillery is also trained in breastfeeding assistance and support, and is hugely passionate about this area of nursing as well. In the hospital setting, Hillery works with women during their labour as well as during their early postpartum period, helping with the emotional and physical adjustments women and their families face.
Hillery’s prenatal education business, Baby Rush – Prenatal Education and Support Inc., began in 2008. She created this business to allow her to provide more holistic care to families outside of the hospital setting. She offers group and private classes for expectant families and teaches on the full spectrum of pregnancy through to postpartum. Hillery created her curriculum based on what she, an experienced obstetrics nurse, wants women and their supports to know prior to entering the experience of labour. This knowledge will benefit the entire family unit, and will assist in starting this new journey with the healthiest and strongest start possible.
Hillery prides herself on being an advocate and support for her clients and her patients in the community and hospital settings. This fueled her to want to open a centre where families can come to learn in an environment where they can feel safe and supported. The focus of the centre will be on promoting health and wellbeing for the entire family. Our goal will be to create a community where people of all ages can grow and prosper. Hillery always wants the best for “her girls” and their support people and cannot wait to be able to be a physical and emotional support in this new community setting!

Serena believes in creating a positive learning environment through interactive play, stories, songs and signs. From working with many children over the years, Serena has found that when babies learn basic signs there is a noticeable decrease in crying and frustration. Babies are able to express themselves before they can speak which boosts their self-confidence and willingness to explore new things.
Serena’s children enjoyed signing at an early age and it continues to be beneficial as they learn to read. For the past two years Serena has shared her passion for signing with parents in Winnipeg. It’s definitely rewarding to see the babies eyes light up during the class and the energy is infectious. She has completed several signing courses and has related work experience which allows her to assist parents in their baby’s first years of communication.
