Little Signing Stars for Tots

Join us for an upbeat program full of interaction and learning!  Enjoy the benefits of combining basic signs with songs and stories. This program is ideal for all toddlers as we explore new concepts and playfully expand their vocabulary. Topics include feelings, opposites, mealtime routines, pets and animals. Toddlers can further develop their social skills during snack time offered at the end of each class!

Sessions begin: May 7 and runs until May 28

Fee: $75 for 4 week Series

Wee Artists – special Father’s Day session

Just in time for Father’s Day, a special art & craft session for creative little people ages 2-5 years old and their parent(s). Complete with story time for inspiration, guided instructions on how to create a framed handprint, and even some free time for wee artists to explore and hone their skills.

And the fun doesn’t have to stop there! Also included are printed instructions for the feature activity and a few other select kid-friendly crafts or recipes to continue the fun at home.

Being creative can be a little messy, be sure to wear appropriate clothing. A smock is also recommended.

Fee $15/child, + $2 fee for art materials provided. Add on a 2nd child from the same household 15% off, Multiples 20% off.

Siblings under 2 years old are free and welcome to attend. There will be an area set up for them to play & enjoy during the session, but art materials will not be provided for them.

This project will be a collaborative effort! Mom’s can make this Mother’s day extra special by creating a beautiful piece of art with your little one to mark the occasion, or dad’s can help in making a Mother’s Day present that is sure to be treasured for a lifetime.

Choosing Childcare

Unfortunately we can’t help you get to the top of the waiting lists, or ease your concern over separation from your child upon your return to work, but we CAN give you facts about child care in Manitoba. This workshop will give parents and caregivers some tips on what to look for in both child care centres and family daycares (as well as pros and cons) and arm you with the information necessary to make the transition a bit easier. Come and get the facts from four Instructors from Red River College’s Early Childhood Education program with a combined 40 years experience in the child care field, including two Master’s degrees in child development, as well as vast knowledge and experience working with children.

This parent-and-tot class is full of fun, tropical songs and steps for toddlers up to 4-years. Featuring original music by renowned Latin artist, Ricky Franco, Salsa Tots combines movement and play with lively rhythms that parents and kids can both enjoy!

Parents get active modeling actions for their children and promoting physical activity for the whole family. Children learn dance and movement concepts while singing, playing and using their imagination in an open and safe environment.

Going Against the Grain: Becoming Gluten Free

This class is a brief overview for those individuals trying to decide whether or not to become gluten free (GF). In this one-hour session we will touch upon various reasons for going GF, tests determining celiac disease, where we find gluten containing foods and where to find gluten-free foods, as well as nutrients of concern in those undertaking this lifestyle change. We will also address some frequently asked questions about pregnancy, GF moms, and their babies.

In this class, we will discuss what it means to “know a language” and to “really be multi/bilingual’. The importance of literacy for language growth will be emphasized. We will talk about how to support your children’s language growth prior to their formal schooling and in the early years of their schooling. Ideas for parents who are themselves multi/bilingual and strategies for unilingual parents will be provided.

Mom & Baby Yoga (infants-9 mths)

All levels of class are aimed to facilitate postnatal recovery, strengthen mom and baby bond and provide support to moms in a safe and nurturing class environment. Class is guided using an interactive and inclusive approach: babies are included in the practice if they are awake and can be left peacefully if they are asleep. Breastfeeding, changing diapers, crying and taking time out to soothe baby are all welcome aspects to the class.

  • Pre-register or drop-ins welcome.
  • Start 4-6 weeks postnatal (or upon health care provider’s approval) and continue until baby is crawling.
  • All props provided. Mats available if required.
  • Please bring a blanket for baby to lie on and any toys s/he may be interested in if appropriate.

Itsy Bitsy Yoga

Itsy Bitsy Yoga® was founded in 1999 by Helen Garabedian, a Registered Yoga Teacher and Infant Developmental Movement Educator. The Itsy Bitsy Yoga program includes more than 100 calming and nurturing yoga poses and techniques for babies from 3 weeks, tots, and tykes to 4 years that are developmentally nutritious and deepen the bond between parent and child. A puppet or mask can encourage the blossoming of verbal communication in a child.
